Craig Heneveld
Live
For Craig, making electronic music is about exploring the creative process and embracing the energy of rave culture. The act of shaping sound like tweaking a filter to unravel hidden textures or manipulating control voltage to forge new sonic pathways is a way to translate abstract ideas and emotions into something tangible. His workflow thrives on moments of discovery, where the machines and the universe seem to collaborate, creating unexpected sparks of inspiration that drive his music forward.
Craig’s path to electronic music began at the tail end of Florida’s vibrant breakbeat scene, inspired by the funky, high-energy sounds of DJ Icey, DJ Fixx, and DJ X, alongside the deeper atmospheres of Jungle pioneers like LTJ Bukem and Goldie. Before that, he played drums in punk bands, channeling the raw urgency of Propagandhi, NoFX, and Bad Religion. The intensity and independent spirit of these early influences combined with the worldly, experimental textures of artists like Muslimgauze and Tabla Beat Science (Bill Laswell) did more than inform his sound; they shaped the way he thinks about rhythm, atmosphere, and the limitless potential of electronic composition.
Today, Craig’s music is hypnotic, dynamic techno rooted in hardware and modular synthesis. His creative process is hands-on and intuitive, guided by the physicality of knobs, cables, and voltage as much as the evolving patterns of his beats. A few EPs released in 2024-2025 earned him some recognition in the underground techno scene, including support from Eric Cloutier and Rene Wise.
Craig’s live performances are deeply improvisational, shaped by the spontaneity of modular systems and sequencers. Each set unfolds as an exploration of sound, channeling the same spirit of discovery and collaboration that defines his studio process. These performances create unique atmospheres where raw energy meets immersive textures, reflecting the push and pull between control and unpredictability that Craig thrives on.
Through his self-released label, Deciduous Circuits, Craig explores the ever-changing seasons of his sound, bridging raw club tracks with experimental, ambient compositions. His work continues to evolve, driven by a passion for connecting technology and emotion, leaving room for the unexpected and inviting listeners into the creative journey.
